Photography has been a passion in the Billone family for generations. In the early 1900’s my ancestors realized the value of preserving the past and family history. I am grateful for that since I can now look at a photograph from 1917 and see my father when he was 5 years old and the grandmother I never knew.
In later years my father became the “official” photographer for all family events. Wherever we went he would bring his Kodak Brownie, or his Kodak Signet and shoot away. He was the first person I knew to purchase a 8mm film camera and projector. If he were alive today I am sure he would fully embrace the movement toward digital photography.
This ancestral history taught me the importance of preserving memories. I still have his photographs and slides from the 50’s and 60’s which allow me to remember the days of our family get togethers for holidays, birthdays, Communions and so on. I cherish those photographs since a majority of the people in them have passed on. I have added to that collection my own photographs from the 60’s to the present. Through the use of the Internet I am able to share those memories with all of my relatives and their children, forever keeping the memory of those who went before us alive.
In 1967 I entered the Air Force and was stationed at some very remote locations. One of these, Saglek Bay Labrador, was the most desolate place I have ever known. Desolate, as it was it had its own beauty. This is where I started to learn Landscape Photography, expanding my horizons from just family photographs. The past 11 years I have had the opportunity to travel to foreign lands and capture the beauty of other parts of the world, expanding my photographic vision even further. The Billone family passion was moving towards its' inevitable destiny - sharing the beauty of the world through the creation of Thomas Photography.
My Photographic goal is to capture the feelings and emotions that strike me when viewing a particular scene or event. Capturing not only the moment in time, but also the beauty, and sometimes the unattractive in the world that surrounds us. The Photographs you will see on the pages of this website and on the Product pages are from both the United States and locations around the world. All are original, signed, matted, and mounted photographs and they are available for purchase in various sizes. Framing is also available.
This website content will continually change with deletion and addition of content. I will continue to display photographs of wonderful places of interest, nature and the outdoors, and of people being people. Some photographs may be political in nature given my proximity to Washington, DC, but that is part of capturing the essence of life. My intent is not to push any political agenda but to portray events as they happen for everyone to see in an unbiased, uncensored way. Each person who views the photographs on this site will have their own interpretation of what they a viewing. But is that not what art is all about?
